Life moves fast for Japanese-American model slash actress Kiko Mizuhara. Since her first step into modelling in 2003, Mizuhara has won contracts with Seventeen, Vivi, Elle Japan, Numero Tokyo, Nylon Japan, Vogue Girl Japan and Ginza Magazine. She has appeared in commercials for Uniqlo, Jil Sander Navy, Jill Stuart, Diesel, and tech giant Huawei. She has worked collaboratively with Opening Ceremony to produce a line that was seen on both Rihanna and Beyoncé. She’s also a Chanel favorite, after attracting the attention of Karl Lagerfeld in 2012. The list continues, including work on film and television and in the recording studio. This impressive collection of accomplishments saw i-D Japan hail her as “The Future of Japan” in its inaugural edition last year. Kiko is among the nation’s most visible style icons, and her supreme reign on social media with a dedicated, young audience has elevated her to the top of Japan’s fan culture. A rumored relationship with Korean megastar G-Dragon didn’t hurt matters, either.
