#whatishappeninginthailand means that as a media platform we must wake up from our slumber to help keep the information keeps flowing - also to serve as a platform for divergent opinions and differences

October 20, 2020
In a multiverse far away our basic rights are safeguarded by the institutions created to protect them. #whatshappeninginthailand is that the rights we hold as citizens, basic rights, are not respected with a broken constitution and the absence of the rule of law. When the youth take to the streets they fight for their future. Who wants to grow up in fear to know that they cannot discuss the fate of their nation without being criminalized? Sure they do it anyway but who guarantees their safety? Change means moving with the times understanding that there is another way to proceed and that we cannot stay static. The next generation does not have the same aspirations as the previous one. Today they demand transparency, fair distribution of wealth and that access to basics such as healthcare and education is guaranteed. But freedom to express themselves and question the “taboos” of the past generations is their right. Support to the youth. Free the press. And remember that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Just a thought from years of being asleep.
If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear. ― George Orwell
